Zones

Good Afternoon,

 Yesterday I went for zones. I went for High Jump, 60m sprint and The year 5 relay team along with Lola, Amelia and Keria.  I started then gave it to Amelia, then Amelia passed it to Lola who passed it to Keria. We got a green ribbon which means we came third place and might have a chance at going to Canterbury's. I came second in the 60m and for the semi final a came fifth. In high jump I knocked the bar on 1m 05cm went on Athletics day I jumped 1m 10cm! Here is a picture of O.L.A at Zones - 
My mum came to watch my sprints and my dad watched my high jump. I really enjoyed my first Zones.

Hello Readers, The last couple of weeks we have been working on an action to help eels. Xhin, Savanna and I decided to send a letter to the Meridian Company about dams and that eels can not get over them on there way to Tonga to breed and that baby eels can not get back over the dams. We sent the letter and it is on this blog post. And here is their reply...  Thank you for your email.  Meridian Energy operates hydroelectric schemes in two catchments in New Zealand; the Manapouri scheme in the Waiau catchment in Southland and the Waitaki scheme the Waitaki catchment. Dams (and other structures) in waterways do impact on the migration of eels and other freshwater fish.  As you have said the adult eels need to get out to sea to have their babies, also the babies need to get back from the sea to freshwater to grow in to adults. In both the Waitaki and Waiau catchments Meridian employs people to use traps to catch and then transfer the adult eels

School Swimming sports!

Aloha everyone! Last week we participated in school swimming sports. I did 50m freestyle, backstroke and breaststroke.  Here is a picture of me before freestyle. I'm second to last at the far end. The following Friday all the people who won the finals go to zones. Unfortunately I didn't make it to zones but I'll try again next year. Thanks for reading, Milan 😆😃😁
